What is Windows To Go?

Windows To Go is a BYOD Bring-Your-Own-Device. Windows To Go is a portable, bootable Windows 8.1 image installed on a USB drive. Windows To GO provides software assurance and other mobility solutions to people as to increase productivity.

Features

The Windows To GO is capable of booting from a drive that contains a built-in smart card and also can be used as Mass Storage Device.

Windows To Go can be booted on multiple computers and laptops.

Windows internal data are offline to avoid disclosure of data.

When Windows 2 GO drive is plugged in a running system it does not show the data in the explorer.

Supports Windows Store Apps.

Refreshing and Resetting options are not supported.

The USB drive also works on a Linux PC. ( if the requirements are met)

Hardware Requirements

The hardware requirements are any PC that is running windows 7 or even 8.1.(Minimum requirements of Windows 7)

The Host Platform must have processor of 1GHZ or faster.

2Gb Ram for 64-bit and 1Gb Ram for 32-bit systems.

The system must support Direct X graphics.

The Windows To Go USB 3.0 is compatible with USB 2.0 ports.

In case if you accidentally removed your USB drive while running, the Windows TO Go drive has a feature to freeze the data and gives a time period of 60 seconds to plug the data traveller back.

Windows To GO drive also supports encryption with Bitlocker.

USB drives that are not certified are not supported.

Windows To Go certified USB drives are built for high random read/write speeds and support the thousands of random access I/O operations per second required for running normal Windows workloads smoothly.

Windows To GO USB drive comes in 32 Gb, 64 Gb and 128 Gb. The OS image occupies about 20 Gb of the USB drive.
